Gaudí and Modernism Tour

The Route of the princess and the dragon

Catalonia and Barcelona have always been linked to the legend of Sant Jordi and the dragon, perhaps for this reason the greatest architects of Catalan Modernism, Doménech i Muntaner, Antonio Gaudí, Josep Puig i Cadafalch, created the most beautiful palaces, parks, gardens , Cathedral and houses.

The blue and green colors, the knobs of the doors in the form of tree roots, the immense vaults simulating the bones of a great dragon hiding a princess inside, the knight releasing it, the stairs in the form of a snail, all these beautiful constructions, Park Güell, La Pedrera, The Cathedral of the Sagrada Familia, The Palace of Catalan Music with its angels of subtle smile and stone look, the muses, dragonflies and horses of the Valkyrie. The Casa Batlló by Gaudí, the Casa Ametller by Puig i Cadafalch, in a modernist Gothic style with a Saint Jordi attacking the dragon, La Casa LLeó Morera by Doménech i Muntaner. This triangle was called the apple of discord and are considered Cultural Heritage of Humanity by Unesco.

The Catalan Modernism (1898-1926). The ideology of a unique architectural movement in the world from a political, social and artistic concept at its best, the Catalan bourgeoisie to demonstrate its power were the patrons of the great artists of the time.

A guided tour through the Catalan modernism of Paseo de Gracia analyzing architecture, artistic creation, sculpture and symbolism in one of the most innovative stages of its history.
